One thing we pride ourselves on at Perfection is giving back to the community. This year we chose to support the Alzheimer’s Association. We started in June of 2016 by hosting a company-wide blood drive. We invited our associates, vendors and customers to join us in this effort and as a team we donated 56 pints of blood! At this event we raffled off gift baskets created by each of our offices and had split the pot. Between June and November 6th, we collected Jeans Day money, associate and vendor donations and continued our raffle effort in order to raise awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s. On November 6th, the morning after our associate banquet, Perfection associates met at Axis Bowling Alley in Newport, KY for a pack-a-thon and bowling. We packed 2,000 care bags for the Alz Association to give to caregivers that they go and visit. It was a day of packing, eating, bowling and associate bonding as we gave back and hopefully made a difference in someone’s life.  Through all of our efforts, we were able to donate not only the care bags but over $25,000 to the Alzheimer’s Association. We would like to thank all of our associates, vendors, strategic partners and anyone else who donated to our cause and helped make our effort a success!

Perfection Group Inc., a Cincinnati-based design/build and engineering firm specializing in mechanical and environmental systems, has announced it has entered the Nashville market after having purchased Cook’s Mechanical Services of La Vergne.

The company did not disclose the acquisition price in a release.

With the move, the 60-plus-year-old Perfection now has offices in 10 cities in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia and Tennessee. The company employs approximately 200 people.

The La Vergne location is part of the company’s strategic growth plan, Jack Albrecht, Perfection CEO, said in the release. The company had been considering a middle Tennessee presence for more than two years.

“We found the right contractor to buy, with the right set of values. We are very excited about this opportunity to grow our business,” Albrecht said. “A central Tennessee location gives us the unique ability to introduce ourselves to new customers and better service existing ones.”

Perfection Group was founded in 1951 by Ed Albrecht, Jack Albrecht’s father, to fill a then-growing need for contractors who could convert coal-burning furnaces into gas-fired units. Today, the company specializes in designing, building and maintaining energy-efficient systems for commercial, industrial and institutional customers.

Perfection installed a $1.2 million design-build HVAC and controls system which was part of a $8.6 million complete restoration of the County Courthouse.

The existing system was a century old coal fire steam boiler with split unit air conditioning scattered randomly throughout the building. The air conditioning system in one of the courtrooms was so loud that it needed to be turned off when the room was in use.

Perfection installed a state of the art water source heat pump system with a high-efficiency boiler, cooling tower and heat pumps with direct digital controls. The new system has dedicated fresh air systems with heat recovery wheels to maintain proper air quality. The building is 49,200 square feet and Perfection expects the BTUs per square foot to be 40% less than with the existing system.

Perfection Group is hosting year-long series of events with the theme of Celebrating 60 Years of Perfection!

Plans for the year-long celebration include sponsoring four major community-service initiatives which encompass fundraising and Company manpower to “give back” to those communities that have supportedPerfection over its life and holding many other monthly fun events and recognition for the associates.

Perfection 60th Anniversary Banquet at the Cincinnati Zoo!

As the name implies, Perfection Group, Inc., an award-winning industry leader in designing, building, and maintaining heating and air conditioning systems for the commercial, industrial and institutional markets, doesn’t do anything halfway.  So as their 60th anniversary approached, the company planned a year-long celebration for 2011 including fun monthly festivities for associates, customers, vendors  and strategic partners, along with a slate of quarterly community service projects designed to provide an opportunity to give something back.

In late June, the company’s second quarter service initiative supported the work of Kids Against Hunger, a program managed locally by A Child’s Hope International that provides meals to impoverished children around the world.  Taking on a two-part challenge, Perfection associates, strategic partners, friends, and families first donated over $22,500 – enough to fund more than 90,000 meals – and then worked at the Kids Against Hunger “factory” in Sharonville on Sunday, June 26 to pack the meals and prepare them to be shipped to Haiti.  The effort far exceeded Perfection’s goal of 60,000 meals, originally set to tie-in to the 60th anniversary theme.

On June 25th, Perfection also celebrated our 60th year in business at the Cincinnati Zoo.  Perfection families came together to celebrate this very special time as well as enjoyed the day with the animals, games, shows and amazing food! We hope to have another banquet next year to celebrate another great year!

In addition to Perfection’s HVAC design-build expertise in the construction market and its focus on service maintenance agreements for effective and efficient long-term facility operations cost-savings, the company is also at the forefront of the “green” revolution with its concentration on energy savings and environmentally-friendly solutions to customer needs.

Do you remember the first time someone in your life, in your circle of family and friends, was diagnosed? Or the first time you heard the word cancer and had to ask what it meant? My first time was in the 2nd grade, when a classmate was diagnosed with leukemia.

Over the years, there have been so many more stories. When I think of the people I know who have fought cancer and won or who are fighting cancer and winning it’s amazing. It touches so many lives. With funds and research, we can provide the tools and the hope for all those fighting to keep up their battle!

If I am lucky enough to become the 2012 LLS Woman of the Year, we together will be making a difference! After all, raising funds for blood cancer research is our goal. Please join me in this wonderful opportunity to give back! Helping others is what I am most passionate about! So please help me provide the opportunity for more and more success stories.

Our campaign starts today…and we already only have 10 weeks left!

The Grand Finale Gala is June 8th, and of course I hope you all can attend. Together we can celebrate our efforts in helping to fund research and giving hope to so many that deserve the chance to have a better healthier life!

Every dollar counts as a vote. So vote (donate) early and often! Click on the link below to make your contribution now and purchase your Gala tickets!

Many thanks in advance for your support! I look forward to seeing you at the Gala!

Points to ponder – just a few facts:

    • One Person in the U.S. will be diagnosed with a blood cancer approximately every four minutes
    • Forty years ago, just over one in ten myeloma patients survived five years. Today, three times more patients can expect to survive, and with better
    • Research projects that are high-risk or address rare cancers are less likely to be funded by the government or by for-profit companies. LLS supports many promising projects that might otherwise never provide advances for the blood cancer patients who need them.

After months of review, the Auglaize County Commissioners agreed to accept more than $1.3 million in stimulus money to help pay for renovations at the courthouse.

The commissioners signed an agreement Thursday accepting the money from the Ohio Department of Development for American Recovery and Reinvestment Act — Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program. The funding will pay for energy upgrades at the courthouse, including lighting, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), and the installation of a solar electric system.

The commissioners received word several months ago they qualified for funding they applied for in November. The commissioners have since reviewed the fine print of the agreement to ensure it included no stipulations with which they did not feel comfortable. Without the stimulus funding, Commissioner Doug Spencer said it would have been more than three years before the county could think about starting renovations to the building constructed in 1894.

He said the goal with renovation is to make the 19th century courthouse perform to 21st century justice requirements. Commissioner John Bergman said they’d like to continue moving forward with additional planning, including making a decision on where courthouse offices would be moved for a temporary location during the approximate year and a half renovation process.

They received this week the last of the recommendations and forms representatives of each office were asked to fill out during tours of five facilities last week.

“Within the next 30 days, after we talk, we will know a lot more,” Bergman said. “We want to sit down with (architect) Garmann-Miller for one last review with the office holders of what they want from renovations.” Late last week, the commissioners entered into a proposal with Perfection Group for professional services for the HVAC portion of courthouse renovations for an estimated cost of $1.1 million.

Perfection Group, which has implemented energy efficient improvements at other county buildings, offered a proposal for design and construction of a water source heat pump system for the courthouse.Their proposal would include construction documents prepared by its in-house engineers per outline specifications, as well as permit fees and a standard one-year design and installation warranty. Perfection Group also agreed to work closely with architect Garmann Milller & Associates, of Minster, throughout the design, installation, start-up and turn-over phases of the project, according to a resolution signed by commissioners.
If for any reason the project would not move forward or Perfection Group is not awarded the complete installation of the project for the quoted price, the commissioners agreed to pay a breakage fee of more than $53,000 for engineered documents.“It’s for the work they put in to date,” Bergman said. “They are doing the work per gratis so far.” He said the commissioners wanted to use Perfection Group’s expertise as they prepare for the project. “There’s so much planning to do,” Bergman said. “We needed help and regardless we plan to reimburse them for their services.

“We need to make sure we’re where we need to be in the grant process,” he said.

After putting a hold on renovation plans since 2006, the commissioners were spurred to the planning stages again earlier this year when they learned they had received stimulus funding to use for the project. The energy portion of renovations, for which the grant would provide funding, need to be done by the middle of 2012 and Bergman said courthouse offices could begin moving to temporary homes by the end of the year.

The commissioners plan to use more than $6 million set aside in a Permanent Improvement Fund until 2008 for other renovations to the building. Bergman said those additional renovations would include making the attic usable for additional office space, reconfiguring offices so those that communicate often are closer together, and creation of a single entry and exit point to the courthouse.

Additional renovations that would need to be done to the courthouse include plumbing upgrades, electric upgrades to support information technology and other new infrastructure, improved security, a generator to maintain a minimum standard, stained glass restoration, structural reinforcements specifically of two domes, painting, rehabilitation of wood finish, new furniture and filing equipment, and all new technological equipment. Representatives of Garmann-Miller plan to meet with county officials within the next few weeks and review a list of work to be completed. That’s also when a tentative timeline is expected to be redefined.

Bergman said he’d like to see the project bid out by the beginning of 2011. He said with the downturn in the economy, the bidding climate is favorable and they are hoping that work might come in below estimate, as well as the fact more contractors are available at job sites so work might move along more quickly. “It’s really past the time we thought we’d like to start on renovations,” Bergman said. “The grant is the big impetus now, shoring up the shortfall we had in the permanent improvement fund.”
