Georgetown College and Perfection Group have partnered to modernize the College’s historic Davis-Reid Alumni Gym, originally constructed in 1925. The collaboration has transformed one of the campus’s most iconic buildings into a high-performance, energy-efficient facility—uniting tradition with innovation to benefit students, athletes, and the broader Georgetown community.

The $3.7 million project, funded by the A.E. Knowlton Foundation, the James A. and Martha R. Brown Foundation, and the dedicated alumni and friends of Georgetown College, brings nearly a century of history into a new era of sustainable building design and performance. The effort reflects Georgetown’s forward-thinking approach to campus investment—focusing on smart infrastructure upgrades that enhance longevity, reduce operational costs, and create a healthier environment for the people who use it.
“This project is more than a renovation—it’s a renewal of a space that has connected our community for 100 years,” said Rosemary Allen, Georgetown College President. “Through this partnership, we’ve improved safety, energy performance, and environmental quality while preserving a beloved piece of our college’s history.”
Davis-Reid Alumni Gym serves as home to Georgetown College’s championship athletic programs—including the 2024 NAIA Men’s Volleyball National Champions and the record-setting Men’s Basketball team with over 2,000 wins—along with women’s basketball and volleyball. The gym is the oldest in Kentucky where collegiate athletics are contested.
Over the last 18 months, Perfection Group worked alongside Georgetown College to conduct a full facility assessment and deliver a comprehensive renovation plan to completion. The work addressed aging mechanical, electrical, and life-safety systems—resulting in a revitalized facility that now meets modern engineering and sustainability standards.
Key Project Highlights:
- Installation of high-efficiency HVAC and ventilation systems that improve indoor air quality and reduce energy use.
- Upgraded fire protection and life-safety systems to enhance reliability and code compliance.
- New audio visual and lighting controls that elevate functionality and the user experience.
- Replacement of outdated lighting with LED technology, cutting energy consumption by 75%.
- Creation of modern, ADA-compliant, and flexible spaces for athletics and community use, ensuring long-term safety, comfort, and functionality.
